So, I've been drooling upon the performance of SSDs, and shivering upon the sight of my empty wallet. In a moment of insanity, I decided to research the viability of SD card for a boot drive, as it would cost significantly less than a combo drive (a pure SSD isn't an option, this is a laptop, and I do need that optical drive).
The problem is, I can't find anything that would make me either try the idea out or write it off. Two things that I am most concerned of is the read/write limit of the SD cards, and the speed - according to Wikipedia, even the UHS3 class cards are capable of only 30 MB/s, while SATA II does 300.
So, my question is, would this work or not?
