SD card damaged!!

Hi guys,

My Samsung S4 came up with something saying my sd card is damaged and needs to be formatted. How do I get all of my pictures and music off? I have tried to put my card in other phones and the same thing comes up. I have also tried putting it into different laptops and it can't be read.

any help would be greatle appreciated

Hey there, Cheri-Ann.

Since the memory card can't be recognized by any of the devices you've tried it with, I'd suggest that you go for data recovery software. Check out this thread: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-1644496/lost-data-recovery.html and this article: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/filerecovery/tp/free-file-recovery-programs.htm.
Another option would be to try and access the card via Ubuntu Live USB (this is a freeware, bootable, portable version of Linux), to see if its partition is properly recognized and if you can get to your files and back them up.
And last, but not least, if all else fails and your data is important to you, I'd recommend that you try a professional solution, such as a data recovery company.

Hi there,

Thank you so much for getting back to me.

I have tried to download things like recuva but once it show me all my lost stuff it sys I must pay$39 to recover them, and this is not a option as I live in Zimbabwe.

So I am busy downloading disk drill as you have suggested.

Hey there thank you so much for all of your help. I was able to retrieve most of my stuff which is really awesome. I downloaded Disk Drill and worked like a dream. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day/ night.
