My Phone: Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 with Custom ROM A12
My SD Card: Sandisk Class 10 64GB

If the SD Card is formatted as internal in this device, that means the card only work in this device, so another device can't READ this SD card anymore!

And what if the device is damaged or dead, can the SD Card still be formatted via another PC/Device ?

Note My SD card is not yet formatted as internal, I'm asking first here for best answers to my questions.

From whatever I've read, once formatted as internal storage, SD cards are "locked" and no more usable outside of that phone.

So, two questions:
  • Why? Unless you have ton of apps using internal storage, data (photos, music, videos) can be safely stored on the SD card;
  • Decent 64GB SD card is $12 - get new one, faster one for your next phone. If your phone is dead, you won't be able to recover the data from "internally-formatted" SD card anyway.
