I have windows 10 on my new system and when I insert my SD card it wont show its content. I plugged my camera directly into the computer and still not showing up. I go into windows manager and I can see my SD card in there but when I right click I cannot assign a drive letter. Everything is greyed out. My USB flash drives are all showing up and all additional hard drives. The SD cards I saw are FAT32 format from the camera. When I put them in my laptop and another desktop the pictures show up> any suggestions please as this was suppose to be the replacement for my old desktop.

Solution
The is a new BIOS available, released on September 14th. It is version 1901. If your current version is older I would recommend installing it.

Bios file:

Bios updater utility:

I would also install these, probably first, just to see if the problem is resolved without having to update the bios.

Well I have Asus X99 motherboard. Windows 10. I am believing that the Windows drivers may be the problem but I cannot find any info on this problem or update. Everything else is showing up, jus the Fat32 sd cards are the problem and my camera is not showing up. Camera canon 70d

Is this an add in card reader or is it integrated with the case?

WHICH X99 ASUS motherboard do you have? There are like 13 different models, at least. Probably more by now.

Normally I'd say the SD card is the likely problem, but since you already said they work on other computers, then it must either be a driver problem with the SD card reader or a bios setting.

Try resetting your bios EFI hardware tables by removing the cmos battery on the motherboard for five minutes, then put it back and reboot.

I built it in the case. The card reader is plugged in to a USB 3.0 header on the mother board. I can see the volume in manager but cannot access it to assign a drive letter. I also cannot see my camera when plugged directly in to the computer. This is how I get my pictures off my camera by direct hook up or sd card reader.

X99 is not a motherboard model. It's a motherboard platform. X99 motherboards are what supports LGA 2011-3 socket processors.

X99-A, X99-Deluxe, X99-M, X99-Pro, are examples of ASUS X99 motherboard models. There are more than those, but those examples specify which model versus just the X99 platform. I would need to know your exact model number in order to find the correct drivers, and the fact that you haven't differentiated that particular tells me that it's unlikely you have installed any motherboard model specific drivers, which is likely the problem.

Thank you very much for all your help. One of the updates gave me the ability to assign a drive letter which then allowed me to see my SD card. I have not yet updated the BIOS, but will do that on Monday or Tuesday. You have been a great help.
