Earlier I was trying to reparation an old hard drive from another pc to use as storage on my new one. I accidently partioned an SD card that had pictures on it that are nowhere else to be found. Is there any way of recovering the data that was on the card or is is hopelessly lost? it is partioned into two of 97.66 GB each and an unallocated space of 37.89 GB

You can try software like Recuva to see if anything can be read and recovered to a different drive. Outside of that, there's not much hope, unfortunately. Sadly, the Navy SEAL saying of "one is none and two is one," is applicable to data storage. Having multiple backups of important data is a crucial part of basic PC ownership, and not having that can cause bad things to happen, just like neglecting to change the oil in your car or the air filter in your furnace.

I would clone the SD card to an image file on your HDD, and then run data recovery software against the image.

You could use the Tools -> Copy Sectors feature of DMDE to perform the clone.

R-Photo is a freeware data recovery tool, plus I believe it can also clone your card.

Be aware that PhotoRec is a file carver, so any fragmented file will be corrupt. A file carver assumes that a file is contiguous whereas other data recovery tools will use the file system metadata to locate the fragments.
