The card reader on my Acer Aspire M5640 desktop does not work. Is it because I'm still utilizing Windows Vista as an operating system? When I click on "Computer", it shows:

1. Floppy Disk Drive ( A: )
2. ACER ( C: )
3. ACER ( D: )
4. DVD RW Drive ( E: )
5. CD Drive ( F: )
6. DVD Drive ( G: )
7. USB Flash Drive ( I: ) - when flash drive is inserted
8. Photostream

But never an icon that shows or indicates SD card or Memory card in use or inserted. I am not that tech savvy, I can only do minor troubleshooting. Everybody's assistance and suggestions are highly appreciated. Thanks in advance and I hope someone could help me out.

Yours truly,

Arvin T.

How could that be relevant if Windows Vista was pre-installed at the factory and presumably the card reader used to work okay? Windows Vista is quite capable of supporting both external and internal card readers.

First check the cable inside the system case to make sure it's securely attached to the card reader & motherboard.
If the cabling checks out okay then you may have to replace the reader or buy an external one.
