SD RAM vs. Regular RAM

What is the difference between SD RAM and regular RAM? I want to upgrade my RAM and there is SD RAM as well as regular RAM. Which do I buy or are they the same? Thanks!

SDRAM is the type of RAM that all current computer platforms use.

More important is making sure that you get the right version for your motherboard, and work out whether you need to use small sticks or normal ones.

The manual also tells you the optimal install method.

A normal, modern ATX motherboard usually uses DDR3 memory in pairs for maximum performance such as a 2x4GB 1600MHz C9 kit.

(DDR4 is new, and DDR2 is pretty old)

Motherboards are also limited in how large the capacity is per slot. My Z77 build for example can handle a max of 4GB per slot for a total of 16GB.

Really? I thought 4GB/slot mostly died in the LGA1156 days? Which board?
