SDRAM in a RDRAM system

I have looked through the forums and was unable to find anyone mentioning if there was anyway to use sdram in a rdram system; I have a VC820 motherboard and was wondering if i could buy a device so i could use SDRAM instead of the expensive RDRAM. You know something like a slot 1 to socket 370 convertor but for RAM. Anybody know if this exist? Thanks in advance for any info.

I think these were discontinued after the i820 recall by Intel.

The 820 is a good chipset, regardless of what you may hear. Intel had a problem with the MTH (Memory Translator Hub) in some motherboards using the 820 with SDRAM. Therefor they recalled all SDRAM 820 motherboards, and offered to replace them with RDRAM boards. The RDRAM boards work well, and since they do not use the MTH, are not affected by it.

To answer you question, no there is currently no way that a SDRAM SIMM could fit in a RDRAM DIMM. also, you must place RDRAM DIMM's in pairs so don't buy one 128 RDRAM if you all you want is 128RDRAM. Instead, buy two 64MB RDRAM to make your 128. Also, you will probably see numbers such as RDRAM600 or RDRAM800. make sure you buy the 800 as it is faster.

If it works for you then don't fix it.
