Have a Pro Master SDXC 64GB V60 UHS-II speed class 3 card for my Sony camera. Last night was viewing images from card while in my camera via my TV using USB connection from camera to TV (worked well). This morning put SD card in my computer memory card slot directly (have done this before without any problems) and was looking at images from card. I copied some images from SD card to my external HD with no problem. Then I selected several images on SD card and tried to use the 'Move' option from Explorer to move images from SD card to same external HD and everything went wrong. Received error message that drive with SD card inserted (K: ) was no longer recognizable and card needs to be formatted:

"You need to format the disk in drive K: before you can use it. Do you want to form it?"

When I click on "cancel" I get,

"K:\ is not accessible. The volume does not contain a recognized file system. Please make sure that all required file systems are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted."

When I run chkdsk on the memory card in drive K:\, I get following:

"The type of the file system is RAW. CHKDSK is not available for RAW drives."

When I click on the folder path in "Frequent Folders" in Explorer on my desktop (i.e. 100MSDCF Removable Disk (K: )\DCIM) I get:

"K:\DCIM\100MSDCF is not accessible. The volume does not contain a recognized file system. Please make sure that all required file systems are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted.

I have no idea what I did when I tried used the "move" option from Explorer to move some of the images from the SD card in drive K: to my external HD, but does anyone have any suggestions of what I can try to get my images back? I've rebooted machine, put memory card in another computer, and when I put it back in camera it says it can't be read and card needs to be formatted.

Sorry for long post. Appreciate any suggestions - Thanks!

I've run across this before. 🙁 Your fat or partition information got corrupted. I forgot what program I used, but there's one that almost guarantees recovery and as of right now the recovery from your card will be simple as long as nothing else writes to the card (flip the write protect).

It's also because of stuff like this that I never use the original card except for copying to my archive drives. And then I will duplicate my archive drives to their other 2x copies and upload before even moving them to the 'offloaded' directory I make on my cards. Then some weeks later when I have time, I will re-compare the files from the card to the archive, and once compared, they go from 'offloaded' to 'erasable'. I only erase...

I only erase from the 'eraseable' directory, and only when I need it.
