Hello all,

I recently finished putting together a new computer, and was happily beginning to install Windows 10, until I came to the point where it asked where to install the OS, and that it did not see my hard drive.
I looked further into the matter, only to see that my UEFI BIOS did not recognize it either. I checked all the connections, which were fine, and everything else is working properly, so I am hoping I might find some help here. System specs are as follows:

Motherboard: AsRock 970 Extreme4
http://www.asrock.com/mb/amd/970%20extreme4/
Graphics Card: Powercolor AMD Radeon R9 280X 3GB GDDR5
RAM: 2 GB PC3-10660 CL9-9-9-24, 1.5 V (this is all the info I have on it, there are 2 of these)
Chipscet: AMD Sempron 145 Processor
PSU: CoolMaster 1000W ATX PSU w/ 120mm Fan
Hard Drive: Seagate Desktop 2 TB Solid State Hybrid Drive SATA 6 GB with 64 MB Cache 3.5-Inch (ST2000DX001)
No disk drive.

Again, the computer boots fine into the windows installation prompts or UEFI, however the hard drive is not recognized by the UEFI BIOS or windows 10 installation. I do not hear any sounds from the SSHD at any point. I bought new SATA cables for this HD so I don't think it's the cable. I've also tried multiple power cables and PSU ports. I'm not sure if the SSHD is getting power or if the drivers need to be updated somehow or if it's incompatible with my mobo somehow.

At first, I thought it was the SSHD being faulty so I got a second one through amazon return policy and the problem persists.

I thank you for your help, and I look forward to your replies.

need to see if drives work in another PC. If they do, might need to contact Asrock as it might be a fault of motherboard,

Have you tried all the SATA ports? I can see you checked power and cables but what about connections to motherboard?
Since there is only one bios on Asrock web site for board, Have you got 2.80?

can you see if drives work in another PC? Do yoiu have another drive you know works to test?

Don't like chances of two bad drives in a row, its more likely your motherboard at this stage.

I just looked and it looks like I'm running the UEFI Version: 970 Extreme4 P2.60!! So you might be onto something.

How do I get it updated to 2.80??

Thanks for your reply.

I successfully updated my UEFI BIOS to 2.80, but the SSHD is still not detected. command prompt shows only the USB I'm using the boot Win10. :'(
