Question Seagate 3TB external drive not responding

Kindly advise: I have had my Seagate 3TB HDD for a few years, no longer under warranty. The driver suddenly dissapeared from file manager (Windows 7). I can hear the drive running, but the light does not come on. I have tried to connect to another PC and the same happens. So there is power to the drive, but the PC does not pick it up. It stopped working while I was busy extracting information from it. Very puzzled and any advise will be much appreciated.

Hi Tenek
Thank you for the support. I have installed the SeaTools software, but it is also not able to identify the drive. It also says that there are no drivers required for this drive for Windows 7. When I connected the drive to an Apple Laptop, the light came on for a few seconds and went dead again.

How important is the data?
If it's very important then consider sending the drive out to a recovery specialist (expensive).
If its just 'would be nice to have it back' then try removing the drive from the external enclosure and installing it into your pc directly (needs power and sata cable) or another enclosure.

Not all external drives have sata drives inside then. Which model# do yo have?
