Question Seagate 4tb external drive playback issue with vlc

Hi everyone

I have an issue with my seagate 4tb external hard drive, not sure if this is the right place to post about it.

Basically i have copied some of my movies into the drive and when i play them they lag a bit, doesnt matter if i play it normally or skip 10 to 20 secs it lags.

I have already tried the below steps :

- update the drivers ( they were already updated when i first plugged the drive)

- did a quick format

- did a self test and a fix all long and short from the seagate tool pc app to check for bad sectors but the result came clean ( took 13hrs to do the fix all long)

- checked for disk fragmentation but doesn't require fragmentation as it shows 0% fragmented

Edit

- the cable is fine
- the usb port is fine
- vlc player updated
- to my surprise i connected the drive to another older hp laptop and the movies are working fine without any lag but in my hp omen it lags, i cant say that the laptop has issues because my other wd 5tb hard drives play movies completely fine while connected only seagate has issues but then again the older hp laptop plays it fine

So confused🙁

Please note i have an hp omen gaming laptop so its pretty fast

Any suggestions please let me know

Have you tried playing movies with a different media player to see if the issue still persists? You can also check if your VLC player is updated. If you still have the issue consider checking the USB cable and port or testing the external drive on another system (maybe with a different laptop it will work..)

Yes the cable is fine and the usb port as well.
Vlc also updated.
Although i just connected my dirve to another laptop and it works fine i dont understand how, since that laptop is quite old and this is a gaming laptop
I have used my wd 5tb hard drive to play movies and they work fine only issue with this but to my surprise it works in the other laptop fine

What could be the issue
