Ok so i bought a seagate barracuda 2tb 7200rpm drive a few days ago, instantly when i downloaded stuff it sounded like the hdd inside was scraping or something. Then ive been looking a bit at hdd grinding noises and its the same, so is the drive faulty should i ask for a replacement? Or is it just how Barracudas work.

When the raw read error is at 100 it doesnt make the grinding noise but when it goes under its grinding like crazy

The noise btw https://voca.ro/hd6HkOlJeyV

hard drive's make noise when accessing data/reading/writing, some noticeably more than others, and, some 7200 RPM drives can be heard across the room if/when everything else is quiet..

I'd download/install/run GsmartControl /short test, and, if it passes, perhaps accept you are going to 'hear' that drive if it otherwise works ok, passes assorted tests.

It says that raw read error rate, spin-up time, sector count, seek error rate annd spin up retry is pre failure what does that mean

When i used hdd drives i use to say it sounded like a kettle boiling but at that time i was not confident enough to see if it was loose in the mounts.
A grinding noise is a classic case of faulty bearings , just because its new does not mean it cant be faulty , you wont know if your new car has a gearbox problem until you start driving.

BTW some say ssd's are unbreakable , they are not !!! i got an extra external one for transferring photos between pc's , it got very hot , not warm , i took it back and at first they did not want to swap it , i said its still hot and i live 20 miles away ... i got a refund

SSD's, just like any other piece of electronics, and not "unbreakable". I've had one die.
They are, however, proving to be more reliable than HDD.
