I see there are two models of the Barracuda Pro 10TB:

Barracuda Pro ST10000DM001
Barracuda Pro ST10000DM0004

What are the differences? Is one a newer or better version?

Thanks.

Solution
It's hard to tell the difference, but my superficial reading of the product manuals suggests that the 001 has a higher recording density and can be configured by the user for 512e or 4Kn sector sizes. The 0004 is a 512e model only.

Neither product manual talks about SMR, but I suspect that one or both may be SMR models.

Neither manual mentions helium, but the 0004 does appear to be a helium model:

Solution
The 004 appears to include a 2-year "Rescue Plan", ie a Seagate data recovery service. Does this mean that Seagate are able to perform internal repairs on their helium drives? I don't know of any third party data recovery shop which offers such a service (other than Kroll Ontrack).
