Seagate: Barracuda vs Desktop

Are you sure? Because check this picture, the 4TB says Barracuda and the 3TB says Desktop. Anyway I think I buy the right one.

strangest thing. I have several barracudas of different capacities over the years. bought a new 2tb "desktop" took it home. even has the same model number as my 2TB barracuda. Plugged it in to a cheap kingwin 3.5" usb 3.0 enclosure and didn't work. same enclosure my 2tb barracuda is in.
put the desktop drive in my old g5, and shows up as uninitialized. i format it journaled, guid, put it back in the enclosure and plug it up to my mpb, still no dice.
it looks exactly the same, smells the same, requires the same voltages. can't see why it doesn't work with the kingwin. newer firmware perhaps?

It's a big difference. First model (3TB) ST3000DM001 where Seagate migrate to 1GB per plate was huge fiasko because overheating and high risk of failure. They named it Desktop.15, but in new version (from 2016.) they fix overheating and return name Barraduca to all Guardian series. New model is titled as ST3000DM008 and it's very quiet and extremely fast (according to userbenchmark.com where it's (among different 950 HDDs) on 5th place in terms of speed and reliability).
