Seagate Dashboard not backing up new folders

Hi,

I recently got a PC running Windows 10. My old machine ran Windows 7. I have a Seagate Backup Plus drive and I use Seagate Dashboard to manage the backups. I have a scheduled backup set up to back up the entire C: drive.

When I set up the new PC, I used the Seagate restore function to put the files from my old PC onto the new one.

I noticed that the backups I run on the Windows 10 machine back up changes to files that existed on the Windows 7 machine. However, I've added some new folders on the Windows 10 machine and these are not being backed up. I thought maybe it was some sort of security issue so I ran Dashboard as the administrator but that didn't help.

Does anybody have any ideas as to what could be wrong?

Thanks!

Hello fayp

Can you please try this:

> Right-click any folder that's not backing up.

> Go to Properties.

> Click Advanced from the Attributes section of the General tab.

> Check the Folder is ready for archiving box from the Archive and Index attributes section of the Advanced Attributes box.

> Click OK and try backing up the folder again.

Also, please check for and install the updated drivers for your drive. This may do the trick if the above solution fails to help.

Cheers!!

viveknayyar007, I was just sure that suggestion was going to work because it sounded so logical. Unfortunately, it did not. As far as I know I'm on the most recent version of all the Seagate software.

Hello again fayp

Can you please try Running the Program In Compatibility Mode and see if that works? Since the previous OS the Dashboard worked on was Windows 7, please choose same from the list.

Cheers!!

Thanks Ralston18! A variation of what you suggested works. There wasn't really anything to change with the backup plan because it was backing up everything on the C: drive. So I deleted that backup plan and created a new one, also backing up everything on the C: drive. I got a backup of everything, which was not exactly what I wanted because it duplicated a previous full backup. However, it did include the new folders that previously were not backed up. Just to make sure this really fixed it, I created yet another new folder and put some data in it and re-ran the backup and voila! Just the one new folder was backed up.

I guess there was some sort of conflict with the fact that the previous backup plan was created under windows 7 and the new one was created under windows 10? I don't know but I do appreciate the help!
