[SOLVED] Seagate Dashboard

Why can I not install Dashboard on my HP WIN10 laptop?
It downloaded OK. When I clicked on it to install, I got the following message:
Microsoft Defender Smartscreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk.
I clicked: RUN ANYWAY. It refused. Error - reading setup initialization file.

Can I switch from Dashboard to Toolkit?

• Some drives are supported by both Dashboard and Toolkit making it possible to switch from Dashboard to Toolkit
• Prior to switching from Dashboard to Toolkit, make sure your drive is supported by Toolkit
• Toolkit supported Devices and Features - click here for more details
• If your drive is supported then you will want to remove any old Dashboard backups on your drive to prevent the drive from getting full or causing other possible issues in the future. Reformatting the external drive is the easiest way to do this. This will DELETE ALL DATA on the drive
• Then uninstall Dashboard
• Install Toolkit and set up a backup

I downloaded ToolKit without problems. This is what I wanted....until I started a new Backup. It churned for a few seconds and then said 91 minutes until finished. It slowly clicked down to 40 minutes. Then it started climbing to 3 hours. It was late and I shut down. I started again this morning. Instead of starting over, it continued from yesterday's attempt. It decreased slightly and then it started climbing. As of now, 4 hours later, it has climbed to 12 hours until completion. I am doing other chores and checking back to see if ever decides to complete.

12 hours is ridiculous, get the free version of Macrium Reflect. I've been using it a number of years, and never had a problem with it. A lot of other folks have had similar experience with it.

I took your advice and downloaded Macrium Reflect. Then ran Backup. It took about 3hr 15m to backup 450 MB. Next step is to study Help info to learn how to use the rest of the features like the Restore function. Probably get another memory stick and prepare the Rescue File. I was about ready to toss the HP laptop after struggling several hours with the WD Passport and then the Seagate Toolkit. No backup device should be this difficult. Thanks again. Really appreciate your help. Hope I never have another crash.

I use Macrium daily.
3 hours to work with 450MB speaks to a failing drive.

Either, 3 hours for 450MB is far too long.
Either the source or the target drive is faulty.
