I think these guys are terrible, I really hope they go out of business or something.

Personally had two bad experiences with them. One earlier drive stop reading after not so long. I had a western digital older in usage and that still good. Then when I bought a newer desktop which unknowingly had Seagate hard drive. I wasn’t that suspicious then. But when that died too its own ,I became suspicious. Then I looked into Seagate drive quality. And to my horrendeous surpise, those drives fail at rate like birds dropping dead from the sky.

Now I hate these guys with a vengeance, those drive are a waste of money.

lol.. true... Barracuda always used to be good though.... my drives are all 1tb i think... im guessing on the face of it they really <mod edit> up with the more recent design.

Backblaze do use the drives in a way that really really punishes them though.. its not like home use and while they might have a higher failure rate those drives are probably getting a lifetime of typical use in 1 year., and there are further factors to consider... Those stats are not really reliable when you really look at it.. theres no indication of the drive age or its usage.. youd need to pull the smart data on each drive...there could also be a performance tradeoff...an SSD will burn out long before an old IDE drive but I know which i'd rather have.

you refering to this?

i don't beleive they were biased against seagate though. across brand they fair the worst. perhaps the fact is they just less unrelaible and the study reflected that. but people can put their trust in seagate if they want. lol.

well maybe i just happened to run into other hater of seagate. but i heard hate of seagate hd before. lol. hate speech of seagate coupled with studies like these don;t do them justice. lol.
