Hello friends,
About 3-4 months ago I bought a Seagate exos X18 hard disk thinking it would be long-lasting and secure. My computer is new. I connected it to the ROG Z790-E motherboard with the SATA cable that came in its box and I use a ROG 850W Aura Edition PSU. I started using it after transferring all my data to the hard disk. I don't do much active work anyway. Today I connected my second disk to make a backup, while copying was in progress, there was a sudden pause and I started to hear a stuttering sound. When I looked with Hard Disk Sentinel, the performance seemed to be 99%. The descriptions say 1 communication error. Since the stuttering continued, I had to restart the computer. I started backing up my data as soon as possible so that I wouldn't have to leave the hard disk. I don't experience any freezing or stuttering during the backup, but the performance value of the disk drops about every 10 minutes. It reached 80% in 2 hours and says there was a communication error 1626 times. I didn't expect it to deteriorate so quickly. What does this mean? Will they replace the product under warranty?

As of the latest status, the Performance indicator has been stable at 75% for about 2 hours. There were 1748 communication errors. I copied about 1.5TB of data in these two hours, but there is no decrease anymore. I don't understand. I didn't make any changes.

Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS information.

Include PSU: make, model, wattage, age, condition (original to build, new, refurbished, used)?

Disk drive(s): make, model, capacity, how full?

Did you check the Seagate's connections and/or swap in different cables?

How was the second disk connected?

Any related error codes, warnings, or informational events being captured by Reliability History/Monitor at the times of communication errors or stuttering etc.?

There may be some observable "10 minute" pattern....

Windows 11 Pro
Asus ROG Strix Z790-E including original sata cable
Asus ROG 850W Aura PSU

The second disk was kept in hibernation inside the computer and plugged into the sata cable.
