seagate expansion 1tb portable external hard drive [not detected]

Hello, need help.

My External hard drive cannot be read but it can only be viewed as Local Disk G which I cannot open.

I've tried it using into another laptop to try, but same problem occurs.

What can I do about it? I really appreciate your help. Thank you in advance.

That is really unpleasant.

Have you tried using different cables? It may be a good idea to do so.
If the issue persists, you can try using some software tools on the drive, in order to see if the data stored on it would be recoverable: https://www.lifewire.com/free-data-recovery-software-tools-2622893

In case the drive can't be accessed by software tools though, then I believe you have a couple of options:
- Contact a data recovery company, if the data stored on the drive is really important.
- RMA the drive if under warranty.
