Stupid question here, but does "Seagate Expansion USB 3.0 5TB Desktop External Hard Drive (STBV5000100) " also work with Mac? My wife has a PC laptop and I have a Macbook Pro and I'm interesting in adding this to our Airport Extreme Base Station so we can wirelessly backup photos and videos of our daughter in case of a hard drive crash.

I see that the drive supports PC; however, I don't see any mention of Mac OSX. Anyone know if it supports it? I would rather buy this than the Time Capsule, as this is higher rated and I can't bring myself to spend $300 on a hard-drive when perfectly good alternatives exist.

I've found other drives on Amazon stating that they are made for Mac... but now I'm wondering if I need a hard drive with separate formats to accomodate both Mac and PC. If it doesn't work stock, can I partition the hard drive with 1.5GB reserved in FAT32 for the PC and 1.5GB NTFS for the Mac?

Hey johnleyo. The short answer is "yes". It will support Mac OS x as well, but the NTFS file system is only readeable by it (you can't write). So you should format it with the exFAT file system which is fully supported by both Mac OS and Windows.

Hope that helps.
