I have the exact same problem with my external hard drive, except I ordered a 2.5 enclosure and it appears that both drives have the SATA adapter on them and I cannot take the hard drive out of the broken case into the new one.
Any suggestions? I could not get the adapter off either one and I didn't want to pull to hard, as I dont want to damage the hard drive I have now.
