Hey everyone, I have this Seagate drive (9ZQ2NA-500) that spins when plugged it yet fails to be recognized by my computer. I've problem solved everything from trying a different port, different cables, different computers, checking device manager, taking it apart and plugging it directly into the computer. No matter what I try, no computers will recognize the drive. I have had no issues for almost 2 years now.

Does anyone know of anything I can do here??

Thanks,
Andrew.

Hey there, ehjay84.

So I assume that it's not recognized anywhere? Not in Device Manager, not in Disk Management and BIOS as well? If this is the case, then it might be a PCB issue. I'd recommend that you contact the drive manufacturer's customer support and try to RMA it if it's still under warranty.

Hope that helps.

Hey Boogieman, yeah, it can't be read anywhere. And to add to it, the drive for sure is past warranty. So I guess I'm out of luck.

Weird since the external worked one day then the next it's pooched!

Thank you for your reply however,
Andrew.

That sounds pretty unfortunate indeed. The important thing in cases like this is not to lose any irreplaceable personal data. It really sounds like the PCB might be the issue, so if you find the exact same model you could try changing it, but I really wouldn't recommend it, unless you're desperate to recover files. Even then, I'd still suggest a data recovery company instead of replacing the PCB.

Cheers!
