i have 750 GB drive. It is quiet. The drive is slow like the rest of external drives. It is hot too. but, i like it. i would recommend you for this. It has 5 year warranty.

I am using seagate 750 GB freeagent pro. They come in 3 interfaces: usb, firewire and esata. If your system has esata interface , go with that option. it is the fastest mode of data transfer.
