My archive disk Seagate Barracuda 3TB stopped working and won't show up as connected anymore. I took it out and recorded strange noises that it makes after being powered up in external HDD connector. Here is the link: https://clyp.it/jaac3xpn

Can anyone tell me what is wrong with the disk and how could I repair it?

Thanks

Is there a “do-it-yourself” solution? Resetting mentioned heads?

nope. you would have to take the drive apart and hard drives are assembled in clean rooms to avoid dirt and dust. if any kind of dirt or dust landed on one of the platters then its toast

Replacing a part in a hdd MUST be done in a clean room. It only takes a spec of dust(even a smoke particle) to kill a drive. Bottom line is - if you have data on any hdd that you have to have, you either should have a backup routine in-place, or be prepared to pay a recovery service.

Can you at least give me a chance I’m going to throw it in the garbage anyways… What’s up with 100s of youtube videos where people successfully replaced parts or unstuck heads c’mon stop saying its impossible.

we are just telling you what will/can happen if you decide to open the drive, what you decide to do yourself is your decision

I understand. I only want to know if the video shows which part of it is faulty.

hello, in such case, people are often suggested to test it at first with CHKDSK or the like tools to see whether this drive is still healthy.
of course, the local hard drive fixing agencies or shops could be helpful for you now.
