I recently ordered the Seagate 120gb SSD from Tiger Direct. Just got it in the mail and I'm very concerned. It came in a generic brown box and the label is a generic white label any label maker could create. The upc label is the same, just a label from a generic label maker.

What type of box should this come in? Am I getting screwed by TD?

I wouldn't worry too much yet. Call them and express your concerns. They may have a perfectly good reason for sending it that way. If it turns out to be a mistake, I expect they will replace if you want.
They're closed today and tomorrow so I'll have to wait until Thursday. I'm extremely pissed as I bought this during the $20 off $100 deal on xmas eve/day. This means I'll probably have to return this and the psu I ordered. This makes 2/3 orders from Tiger Direct I've had problems with.

I just sent them an email expressing my concern. It stinks to be in the unknown for now because after rebates this 120gb ssd would be $60. Not a killer deal, but still good and from a trustworthy company like Seagate. I really hope TigerDirect will make things right. I've already heard horror stories regarding their rebates. After this, I think I'm sticking with Newegg, Amazon, and others and not TD.

I have pictures of the box, but am unsure how to upload them here unless I upload them to a website.

I'm mostly concerned about the $20 rebate. I used to work in a warehouse that made generic labels identical to these. Laughable in my opinion.

Ijust learned that it is only shipped OEM and this is how they package the 600 series. I expected better from Seagate. Hope they don't jam me on the rebate. Thanks for the responses everyone!

OEM shipping means no frills. Sent to a repair shop or manufacturer, that has no need for a fancy box and all of that.
Don't need an instruction manual, don't need extra cables, don't need a CD with migration software, etc, etc. Just give me the drive.

That is why it was a little cheaper.

Based on the information you provided so far, it sounds as if you might have purchased an OEM version of the Seagate ssd. Generally speaking the OEM versions are for retailers who install them in their "off the shelf" computer systems like those sold by Dell, Lenovo, Sony, and others. Sometimes retailers will sell them to consumers.

Typically OEM versions consist of just the bare drive and nothing else. There are no colorful retail boxes, owner manuals, cd-rom installation discs, cables, mounting brackets, screws, migration software, or software & game bundles.

WHOA! Stop! Hold on just a second!

I just visited TigerDirect and Seagate - The spec pages at TigerDirect and Seagate both clearly indicate the Seagate ssd's don't come with anything else. TigerDirect had the information in the video review in the specs section. The TigerDirect reviewer clearly stated Seagate ssd's don't come with anything. However, he did say Seagate does offer extra items and accessories which customers can purchase. The same information is available in the Seagate ssd documents available online. Just for the heck of it I also checked newegg. They are pretty good about clearly identifying OEM products. There's no mention of it being an OEM version and there are no additional items listed. All you get is an ssd in a plain box and a 3 year limited warranty.

I also checked couple of technical reviews listed in the ssd database I maintain. Two reviews mentioned that all you get is an ssd in a plain box.

Bottom line - WYSIWYG.

Just out of curiosity what is the model number and/or part number of your Seagate ssd?
