As my search continues for hard drives for my nas, I came across a post on twitter of someone who purchased these Seagate 1TB hard drive, model number ST1000DM003. They are 1TB 64MB cache drives. I found some reviews that were positive.

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on these for a NAS?

They are about 60 or so dollars less than the WD Black SATA III drives. I know the WD's have a 5 year warranty, I can't seem to figure out the warranty on this Seagate drive, but I think its at least 3 years, which is whatever at this point.

Not sure if I should spend the extra money on the WD's or if these are equally as good or better

By the specs these new drives look great - single 1tb platter. Should be cool and fast. I doubt they will be able to match the IOPS of the black drives but throughput should be higher. The warranty game is going crazy - they may be 1 or 3 years.
