Can anyone please tell me if there is a performance difference between the Seagate Barracuda ST3000DM001 and Seagate ST3000DM002?

If there is, it would be trivial. The second is an updated revision of the first, which could be anything from fewer platters with higher areal density to minor optimizations of the PCB.

According Seagate Desktop Manual the models ST3000DM002, ST2000DM002, ST1000DM004 should support self encryption.
