Problem started with I/O errors on my Seagate 4TB internal hard drive while attempting a full image backup. chkdsk /f /r showed two bad clusters and after the extremely long /r a chkdsk on the drive showed no errors but encountered the same I/O error trying to do a full image backup with Macrium Reflect. Seatools for windows ran smart and short dst tests ok on the drive but failed with fix all and recommended Sea Tools for Dos which I booted and received a message stating No hard drives found but Windows 8.1 and Seatools for windows finds them all along with my recovery disk for Reflex.
Any suggestions appreciated

Temporarily configured Sata controller for IDE compatability and Seatools for Dos recognized the drive. Short test failed with a code of EAAD9668 but can not find doc on code. It did recommend the long test in hopes of repair. Started long test and after approximately 90 seconds test terminated with green screen that says to remove cd and reboot.

SeaTools error codes ("test codes") are a unique encrypted number that is derived from the serial number of the drive and the number of the failing test.

My understanding is that the second last digit identifies the failing test, as follows:

xxxxxx4x - SMART Fail
xxxxxx5x - Long Test, long LBA test
xxxxxx6x - Short Test, short LBA test
xxxxxxAx - Self-Service SeaTools Test Code
xxxxxxCx - Short Generic
xxxxxxDx - Long Generic
xxxxxxEx - Short DST
xxxxxxFx - Long DST

The 6 in the next to the last number indeed identified the failing test but doesn't shed much light on the problem. When it aborted on the recommended long test is when I ordered a replacement drive.
fzabkar thank you for your assistance.
