i am looking to buy a new HDD for my coming system, as the prices are going up so i though i buy the hdd first. here is what i have chosen from seagate family, as WD black is equal to seagate hybrid price and half of GB less. will be buying one as for my internal hdd. unless i go with Toshiba or WD green again. cant find WD red.

Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s = $64
Seagate ST1000DX001 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s NCQ 3.5" Desktop Solid State Hybrid Drive = $ 87
Seagate Barracuda 2 TB SATA 6 GB/s NCQ 64 MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive = $93.

i mainly as interested in 1Tb as i think it will hold most of it, as i mostly deleted alot on my 450 gb (250gb in seagate n Wd green 250gb) to make space. unless if i go for hybrid, then i get interested in 2tb of the price. the think is as i am not buying in $ but in my currency the price is alot of differences in them.
so please guide me in value, storage, life n less fail. and abt the platter as i read somewhere

as my usage is for storaging, sharing, streaming, uploading, n constant torrent activity with regular usage as well. maybe will be for gaming too. As currently i have old WD green n old seagate both 250gb with 8gb/s. in that seagate is my backup as i know it have issues while green is my regular hdd for everything. both have failed me both gotten repaired as well. seagate one makes a werid crack nosie when running, while green have loud noise when loading.

WD Blue series are "budget" drives. I would stay away from them.
WD Black series are good, but expensive.
Seagate Barracuda drives are a good compromise, faster than the WD Green, better quality than the WD Blue and cheaper than the WD Black.

Hybrid drives are a new technology. I don't think we really know yet what the life span of these products will be. They could offer a performance boost for commonly used files though.
I would choose the Seagate Barracuda 2TB if it is in your price range as you will eventually fill it.
Otherwise, the Seagate Barracuda 1TB is a good value option.

thanks i will look for it and i have found these too,
ST500NM0011 Hard Drive 1TB 7200RPM = $68

toshiba 1TB Sata Hard Drive DT01ACA100 = $68

alright thanks. also i have found WD blue WD10EZEX n even red one but out of reach.

strange the site is saying 1tb of st500 maybe they got the model number wrong.
Seagate local offical warranty is 3 years while WD is 2 years
Seagate St1000vx000

Seagate St1000dm003

Wd blue WD10EZEX

i also prefer black but out of reach.

ST1000VX000 is designed for surveillance recording. These drives are optimised to not cause any delays but data integrity is not as important. I would not use this in a computer.
ST1000DM003 is the standard Seagate Barracuda 1TB drive. This is the one I would choose.

ok thanks so now i will be finalizing between wd blue n seagate, as cant find wd red 1tb yet. will ask the distributor of wd tomorrow.

and thanks everyone too for help.

WD Red isn't what you want anyway. These are NAS drives. They have different firmware to limit the time the drive will wait to recover errors and the heads won't park when the drive is idle. This is ideal for NAS use but not ideal for a PC.
Whether you choose a Seagate or Western Digital drive, you want a desktop drive.
This means Seagate Barracuda or Western Digital Blue, Black or Green.

oh NAS..... maybe i research it for my knowledge, so the final fight again with those three sad cant get hold of Hitachi drive here, as they are better than these... right.

oh before i forget what abt toshiba hdd

Seagate and Western Digital have been around since the '70s. Thye have both made a few dud drives, but mostly good.
Hitatchi has been around since 2003. They are actually owner by Western Digital. They usually achieve the same hard drive capacity with more platters but have some innovative technologies. All three are fine.

Toshiba is an even newer manufacturer of hard drives. They aren't in the same league as the three above.
