Hello Community,

im rather new to this but I still want to try. Recently I am want to transition from 16:9 to Ultrawide and struggle to finde the right Montior for me. Maybe someone can help me...

First things first: I´m am happy to spend like 800+$ for the right product.

Preferred features:
-120Hz + (144Hz would be a huge bonus)
-Curved
-around 30", most likely will be 34" due to the lack of products
-Resolution of 2560x1080p to achieve 144 Frames with my Gtx 1080
-G-Sync would be a huge bonus, not must have

In my research I came across the Acer Z301C, a 30 inch curved VA Panel with all the required stats. BUT: Its a VA Panel and almost every user of this monitor (or the Acer Z35) complains about ghosting issues. Being a FPS Gamer this is a big deal since i come from a 144HZ 1080p TN panel.
I also looked into the top end models like the x34A or the PG348Q but then decided that I dont have enough horsepower, a small desk and 100Hz is not that good. (and yes i did test it with limiting my fps in CSGO to 100... Big time difference even though some argue against this.)
Furthermore i dont think they are that future proof since they are out about a year now. With HDR on the horizon I think we can expect a better Ultrawide in about one to two years max. For 1300$ I expect more tbh.

I know that there are no TN Ultrawides on the market, so I was looking for an IPS Panel since a glowing in the dark doesnt effect me much. HDR seems a little to far away and very pricy...

Does anyone know some montior that will fit my needs or has any referrence with the Z301c or Z35 and the ghosting issue... It might be the overall problem with VA panels and response times.

Thanks in advance and best regards.

Phil

Yes, most Ultrawides in the 34" range are VA (AMVA, MVA, etc.), I found one that is an IPS and you might want to take a closer look at (note that I haven't personally tried this specific monitor) as it might fit your preferences (except for the FreeSync):

LG 34UC79G-B: 144 Hz | Curved | 34" | 2560 x 1080 | FreeSync | IPS
