[SOLVED] Seasonic M2II- 620 loud

I've had the seasonic M12II 620 PSU for roughly 2-3 years now and it's been great. Under heavy load, my computer gets really noisy and I just assumed that it was the GPU or radiator fans. I recently discovered that it was the PSU that was making the majority of the noise opposed to the other components in the system. This seems odd for me since generally I would expect the GPU to be the loudest. I am wondering if the PSU is faulty or if this is a normal occurrence.

GTX 1080 DUKE
2700x cooled with a 360mm Deepcool Captain with 3 Thermaltake Pure Plus 120mm rad fans w/ fan controller
3 140mm corsair AF140s
roughly 2 ft of rgb strips
16GB Patriot Viper RGB ram
1TB 7.2k RPM
512GB 970 Pro
512GB ADATA SU800
(No overclocks, only using AMD overdrive in Ryzen Master)
Would the low wattage be a concerning factor in this loud fan noise? Thanks

When in the life time of the PSU did you add the GTX1080? If the GTX1080 was an upgrade, what was your previous GPU? You might also want to inspect the PSU and see if dust or debris are impeding the cooling inside the unit.

Here's the fan curve for the most recent version of the M12ii, according to F14Labs.com

During high loads above 50% the fan really starts to kick in.

It should be mentioned this is a simply comparison, but we don't really have anything Better. RPM doesn't directly equate to noise, though it's a major factor. Also, the fan in your M12ii is controlled by heat, so if your ambient or computer is hot the fan will spin quicker at any load.

You can clean out your computer for dust, make sure your PSUs sufficiently drawing air from outside your case (not on carpet). Otherwise there's not much you can do.

I'd also consider upgrading your PSU. Not only because it's loud, but the mediocre electrical performance, old topologies, and lacking protections doesn't suit your high end computer at all.
I recommend a high quality LLC resonant + DC-DC unit such as the Corsair RMx

I had a 750 ti before the 1080.

Yes they can be loud, the fans are indeed loud, 120mm fan.

I know because I had two M12II's, 620W and 650W.
