Well...Recently just got the seasonic 1300W gold standard power supply for mining, which was built for a friend. However, upon finishing the build and trying to power up the rig, nothing happened. The power supply from seasonic would not work. The fan was not spinning and I heard the tick tick sound and that was it. By the way, I did try normal mode too. It did not work either. Does it mean that the power supply is defective?

In addition to that, the AC power cable that comes with the PSU looks like this

I am just wondering if I could use an alternative cable that looks like this?

That is to say, the regular cable.

Um, an old 3 pin 240V socket? AKA a dryer plug?

1300W is a good amount, but not the 40+ Amps a drier pulls at 240V... The PSU should work with 240V input, but that is silly.

You can certainly run a standard 120V cable, that is what you would find in most domestic homes for electronics. But you would want it to be a high current one, not the typical one found with a typical monitor or less computer power supply. Not a huge deal, just prevents some heating and voltage drop in the wire when pulling close to 1300W.

Some high end supplies would force you to use this cable, which is rated a little higher and to prevent someone from using a low rated wire:

I managed to solve the problem but another issue occurs. As soon as I turn on or switch on the PSU, then the computer automatically turn on without me pressing any power on button. I am just wondering what is happening? It does not have anything to do with the setting of the BIO.
