i bought Seasonic s12II 620w, a Tier 2 unit with decent reviews, many said it was a good PSU brand. however only 1 year and a half in, the PSU is making faint clicking sounds, sometimes louder sometimes it goes away for a bit.

other than the noise, it works fine ever since i built it, no instability issues/sparks and no problems gaming. so am not sure if it is actually dangerous or faulty.

i'm hoping to avoid an RMA since it will cost money/time (4-6 weeks without a working PC), and in the event my seller says it is a minor issue (since it is working properly and not dead), i may have wasted time/money and got the same unit back in the end. i could buy a new one but i really cannot afford another good tier 1/2 unit right now.

googled Seasonic ticking/clicking sound, and found so many similar videos of the same sound. kinda disappointing since Seasonic units should have better quality than cheaper tier 4 units.

it sounds like these, but fainter, the vids show it is not from the fan but some electrical component inside:

Well, they are higher quality. Tech always has a chance of malfunction though no matter how high quality the power supply may be, you'll find malfunction videos even for really expensive high-end power supplies. It's just a tiny risk that always exists.

i understand that point. but looking through many forum results/reddit and youtube vids, it seems Seasonic s12II has this problem more than other unit like M12II/s12G.

Clicking sound is just coil whine. This works for some people, but if you overclock the CPU or the GPU you might be able to fix the voltage.
