Hi Everyone,

About a year ago I bought a seasonic M12ii 850 bronze and I have noticed over the past few months it has been extremely loud, to the point where I can hear it with my headphones on. The noise is coming from the fan. In addition to spinning full speed all the time, it makes a loud humming noise. The confusing part is I only hear this noise when sitting a few feet away. If I put my head right next to the PSU I cant hear the humming. Does anyone have any troubleshooting tips on things I might be able to do to quiet the fan down? Or should I contact seasonic support?

The PSU is powering a GTX 980, i5 3570k, Asus P8Z77 V-LX, 8gb RAM, 1 HDD, 1 SSD, corsair H100i, and 4 case fans.

Thanks for any support

That is indeed strange. Are you absolutely certain it is coming from the PSU? You could try unplugging all of your case fans and using the onboard graphics to eliminate GPU fan. I would contact Seasonic about the issue if it persists.

I can confirm its not the GPU fan, my 980 allows me to turn off the fans. Do you think it could have something to do with vibration? The sound of the air moving I can live with, the droning humming vibration is driving me nuts. The sound did get worse last night after I switched my PSU from a fan facing up config to a fan facing down config, as I moved into a new house and the computer is on low carpet as opposed to thick carpet.

I have same problem with this PSU also. It starts like silent but when the PC is full load, the noise from PSU fan come louder and louder. The fan keep using ( like max speed ) when PC back to idle. What should I do now ?
