Motherboard is an older model ASUS P6TD-Deluxe with Core i7-965ee cpu (130-watt beast).
Motherboard has 8-pin cpu power socket and the usual 24-pin main power socket.
Seasonic 24/20 pin main power cable has 2 connectors at the psu end of the cable - the usual P4 plug plus an EPS +12v plug. Instructions say connect the P4, and the EPS +12v if needed.
I'm using a single GTX 760 graphics card, 1 x SSD, 3 x HDD, 2 x DVD, and 6 x 2GB RAM.
Do i need to connect this EPS +12 plug or just the main P4 plug?

No wonder I do not understand you because a P4 connector is a 4 pin CPU connector and EPS 12 volt is a 8 pin CPU connector!
To answer your question your PSU is clearly labeled for both those plugs. 18 pin top left and 8 pin bottom left both have to be connected!

Not quite sure which cable you are talking about so let me clarify. I'm asking about the MAIN POWER CABLE that goes from the Seasonic modular power supply to the long 24-pin connector on the motherboard. At the power supply end of this cable (i.e. the end which plugs into the Seasonic power supply) the cable is split into 2 plugs. One plug is a standard P4 plug and the other is an EPS 12volt plug.
I have not seen this before. Usually there's just the P4 plug. This is probably because my previous power supplies have been 750 watts or smaller. But this an 850watt and it has this extra plug. The instruction manual simply says "connect the P4 plus to the power supply, also if needed connect the EPS +12v plug. My question is should i connect both?

I appreciate you making the effort to give me a second reply. The information i provided came directly from the scanty install instructions and it specifically referenced the cable which connects to the long 24-pin socket on the motherboard and to the connectors on the other end of that cable. Those instructions left me somewhat confused, and clearly it confused you as well because it just didn't sound right! Anyway, thanks again for answering. Much appreciated. The psu is now installed using both connectors and the pc is running smoothly.

Strange calling those the names of the old connectors although the EPS actually can be keyed correct as the 8 pin CPU connector but the P4 "The P4 connector is a 12V power supply cable like that shown in the picture used with motherboards that have an Intel Pentium 4 processor." after the first CPU needing separate connector.
Enjoy, great PSU you got.
