I was just on BF1 and my ram is at 95% usage and most of it is BF1. My FPS is dropping down to 5 FPS.. and I'm only on medium settings! :pfff: Would love to upgrade this thing and save some money on new doing a new build if at all possible.

Current build -

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Storage: Samsung 840 Pro Series 128GB 2.5" Solid State Disk
Video Card: GTX 670 FTW

Would like to upgrade CPU, GPU to 1080, and RAM. (Maybe a bigger SSD too) Goal is to play BF1 at 1440p ultra.

I tossed these parts in PC part picker and it appears I can. But, can someone confirm my current board is good enough to handle all of this? Or is it better just to upgrade everything completely?

Thank ya!

+ 1 above. Great system except for the video card. The GTX 670 is weak. The GTX 1080 you spec'd would work great with the i5-3570K, especially if you clocked the i5 up a little bit.

What power supply you running ? A decent 500W unit will run the 1080 and what you have fine. A crappy PSU should be replaced before you step up to a big video card.

Make sure your case will fit the GTX 1080 - you need PCIe two slots and a little (not a ton) of length.

Thanks guys. I'm surprised my build is still decent. I built it in March of 2013. I'll check if the GTX 1080 fits within the Antec 900 case. Power supply is 550W. Should be fine, I hope. I wouldn't mind a new one though.

I have an almost identical system, and I'd have no problems just adding a 1080 if my needs required.
The rest of it is fine.

When you say you've had no problems, what does that mean exactly?

My goal here is to play BF1 at ultra and 1440p. Right now, BF1 is using about 90% of my 8GB of ram, so I'd at least expect that I need 16GB + the GPU upgrade to get to 1440p ultra.

Thanks

I just meant that there is no reason to change the rest of it. It is still a very solid system.
Any significant change would require changing everything.

So...change that GPU. If it still does not meets your needs, then and only then look to changing everything else.
