second 7970 in crossfire fans spin when crossfire is disabled

thanks in advance for reading about my problem
I have 2 sapphire vapor-x 7970's but when i disable crossfire the second gpu's fans continues to spin even when idle in windows it also spins when a game is running but when I turn crossfire on the second gpu turns off in windows but comes on when I play a game.
The reason i'm turning it off is because some games stutter with crossfire enabled

I'm not an expert on this, but I believe that's normal. The second GPU is still getting power, even when CrossFire is disabled. Notice how when you first turn on your computer, before Windows loads, the second GPU's fans spin also? Crossfire isn't disabling the 2nd GPU completely, it just makes it so the 2nd GPU doesn't actually do anything.

yes its just the ZeroCore tech for amd cards so when CF is enabled your system is not wasting power on the second card. it will spin up when a gpu intense task is detected.
