[SOLVED] Second display on large delay

I got a second display, nothing too big, just something that wasn’t too expensive that I could use as a second monitor, it’s ok brand (acer) so it’s not bad quality. I notice this when I’m gaming, but when I click on it or get off my game it’s normal. When someone says something in the discord, when I’m talking, someone joins, task manager, and cpu temperature when it’s on the second display is delayed, idk how to measure it but it’s pretty long (I would say 10 seconds). That may not be a problem for some people, but I use that instead of an overlay on discord so I can see who is in chat and who is speaking (when I don’t have voices memorized yet). Also, a bigger problem, I stream, and I would have Streamlabs on my second monitor to interact with chat and see how the stream is doing. I also check on my cpu temperature and look in task manager. That’s a lot of stuff and the big delay doesn’t let me do most of it. Is this like something in settings that decreases cpu load, and can I disable it? I have a pretty beefy computer and I’m pretty sure it can handle it. Is there a way to decrease/take out the delay so it’s like an extended monitor?

Unsure, but something about your wording makes it sound odd.

How have you currently set up this second monitor? Because it doesn't act "like an extended monitor" now. And what are your system specs? (At this point I'm guessing your CPU might not be able to multi-task all the things you want it to do.)

I’m sorry about my wording, I have an intel core i5 9600k, I only have discord, task manager, core temp, and a game, in task manager the cpu never goes over 30%. My gpu is MSI Rx 580 gaming x 8g, which both monitors are connected to.

Odd then. An i5-9600k should be adequate for that level of multi-tasking. So the question remains concerning how you have currently set up your monitors.

My main monitor is connected to the graphics card by a display port, my second monitor is to the right of my main monitor connected from the graphics card by hdmi, and I have an hdmi to vga converter than I use to connect the monitor.

Then that might be the issue: the conversion of the digital signal from the graphics card to an analogue one into the monitor. How much of a delay might depend on the converter used. Any chance of another display you can connect via HDMI to test this out for comparison?

It’s fine when I’m not playing a game, I don’t think that’s the issue

Personally I would still like to rule out the converter being a possible factor in the delay.

The gaming aspect may make some sense insofar the graphics card is predominantly rendering the gameplay. Actually, have you tested with lower graphical settings to see whether there's still a delay?

Sorry for the late response, yes. That was probably it, I decreased the load on the gpu and everything is fine. I think my gpu was just struggling to keep up with both tasks.
