I'm having trouble installing a second M2 ssd in an ASUS VivoBook S15 S532. The second drive is not seen in BIOS or recognized in Disk Management. I even formatted the drive before installing it but that does not help.

Any help is appreciated.

I contacted Asus support and they told me to only buy a NVMe P3x2. The NVMe must have the M+B connectors. I bought and installed on the available slot. Nothing shows up in BiOS. So I decided to swamp the slot. I placed the NVMe that came with the laptop to the new slot. I placed the new NVMe to the slot where the default that came with the laptop is located. The result, my BiOS can see the new NVMe drive, but it won't see the drive that the computer came with. Blows my mind. Someone on another forum told me the available PCIe slot is disabled.

Let me know if someone has a fix for this. Looks like I am not the only one.

I was reading about the second slot, it's for

Optane memory isn't a type of conventional random-access computer memory, or RAM. ... Instead, the consumer M.2 Optane modules sold in 16GB and 32GB capacities are meant to work as a cache memory bridge between RAM and storage, allowing for faster data transfer between the memory, storage, and processor.

Hello, I have the same problem, I just sent a message to Asus reporting the problem:

"When I install a new NVMe SSD (1TB WD BLUE SN550) in the second slot, the BIOS doesn't detect it, neither does Windows. Also when trying to move your original SSD from the laptop from the first slot to the second slot, you don't recognize it either. It seems as if it is disabled, I expect some quick solution. "

PS: The 1TB WD memory is recognizable in the first slot.

Can the problem be caused by 32GB of optane memory?
Or maybe only the second slot is disabled and there is a solution if they upload a new update to the bios or the socket is broken.

Found out the second slot is only for optane. You cannot use the second slot as a second hard drive. That just suck.
