Question second external hard drive HDD to SSD

I have an external hard drive with important material like system backups, photos, songs etc.
The drive with content in it is an HDD and the drive I will send the HDD material to is an SSD.
Can I simply copy and paste each of 4 items from the HDD to the SSD ?
Both are 500 GB's.

I ask so if one drive fails hopefully the other will survive with these important materials and wonder if copying and pasting will work.

There are multiple tools to do this, other than a manual copy/paste.

Macrium backup images will absolutely be no problem. It is what I use as well.

Why not Macrium to just make an Image of the whole drive?
If you wish to retain the raw folder structure, something like FreeFileSync would work.

I always image the whole system and have recovered it about 20 times over the years.
I always make a baseline image when I do a clean install.
I will look up FreeFileSync and thank you for that.

By "file system", I just meant the regular folders and files, instead of being in a Macrium Image.
