Hello all, i have an gigabyte x570 aorus pro mobo with an 980pro GEN 4 1tb ssd installed in the first (top) M.2 slot. Now i want to install another one in the second M.2 slot. Will the second SSD run at its full speed (PCIE 7GB/s 4.0) in this slot? I cannot find any info in the manual or else. Besides my grafix card in the top 16x sot i have a soundblaster Z in one of the PCIEx1 slot.If the second 980 pro SSD cannot run at full speed it would be silly of course to buy the fast 980pro and i can better buy a cheaper Gen 3 SSD maybe or a 5gb/s Gen 4 SSD or something....
If so if it cannot run at full speed what speed in can i expect in this second M2 SSD slot? Thanks for any info.

Solution
x570 has 8 flexible pcie lanes, it depends on boards makers what to do with them, if manuals says dual x4 m2 slots without disabling anything, then its what it is

Right in the spec sheet:
https://www.gigabyte.com/us/Motherboard/X570-AORUS-PRO-rev-10/sp#sp
----------------------------------------------------
M2_A - CPU
"1 x M.2 connector (Socket 3, M key, type 2242/2260/2280/22110 SATA and PCIe 4.0 x4/x2 SSD support) "

M2_B - chipset
"1 x M.2 connector (Socket 3, M key, type 2242/2260/2280/22110 SATA and PCIe 4.0*/3.0 x4/x2 SSD support) "
----------------------------------------------------

Both M.2 ports should support a 980 at its native best speed.

Thanks for reply guys. So even with the soundblaster Z card installed the second SSD will run at full speed then regardless? i thought because the second M2 slot maybe was going through the chipset unlike the first M2 slot which is directly connected to the CPU is would be bottlenecked and not run the 980pro at full speed...

that board has dual pcie 4.0 m2 slots
which traslates to both cards can run at full speed as long your CPU supports it (ryzen 3000/5000)

Nothing I see there says it shares lanes with that slot.
The 980 should be fine.

Right in the spec sheet:
https://www.gigabyte.com/us/Motherboard/X570-AORUS-PRO-rev-10/sp#sp
----------------------------------------------------

Spec sheet and doesn't tell you if your using anything in the system or not just will tell you if it will support it. Yes the board supports them but nit with pcie lanes in use it will slow the second slot
