Dell Precision T3600 Workstation

Second HDD not found in Windows 10 disk manager, device manager or explorer but shows in BIOS. CD is on SATA 0, main HDD is on SATA 1, second HDD shows on HDD1. I've tried all four HDD ports but same results. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Try disconnecting the optical and any other drive apart from the drive that has the OS on it and see if that alleviates the issue. If it does, then chances are the PSU might be falling short on power delivery.

How old is the PSU on your build?

I haven't gotten my hands on a Dell T3600 but on other Dells I have worked on in bios is the SATA port active for the MIA hard drive in windows.

Most Dells you can manually control in bios what SATA ports are active or not. Does hard drive show up if you use the CD's SATA cable connection. And for god sakes while your in the Dells bois remember what you do change as Dells can get you all mixed up if you get in a bind and don't remember what you changed.

Already tried that, checked BIOS and the only thing that showed up was the OS drive on SATA 1. Plugged the cd back to SATA 0 and second HDD to HDD 1 but still not picking up second drive.

BIOS shows SATA ports are active, plugged second HDD into SATA 0 but still doesn't show up.

It's not a new disk. It's the data disk from my previous computer.
Ah, gotcha. Unfortunately the only experience I've had with this issue was related to drive failures from EOL. When drives fail sometimes Windows will recognize it on one startup, but not the next. Sometimes it will recognize but crash if you try to open the drive in file explorer, and then go back to not recognizing it. All of that would be occurring while the drive showed up in BIOS like nothing was wrong at all.

Are you 100% sure this drive is not dead?

Was working fine when I took it out of the old computer. I'll take it out and hook it up as an external drive and see if it is still working. Thanks for the help, I'll let you know if it works.

Plugged the second HDD into the SATA 0 port and it works fine but now I don't have a CD. Tried plugging the CD into HDD1 but it doesn't show up.
