Second monitor detected but no signal

Hey guys, I have a NVIDIA GTX 1080 3GB Edition. I use a LG monitor with 1920x1080 resolution and 60 Refresh rate. My monitor does not have HDMI, only vga and in order to conect it to the GPU I used and addapter. It works fine.
Now I tried to use a second monitor, this monitor has a max resolution of 1280 and the same refresh rate as the LG. It has VGA and DVI-D so again I used an adapter to connect it to the GPU.
So:
1.LG monitor has VGA and it is conected to HDMI in the GPU using an adapter
2.The second monitor has VGA and it is conected to DVI-D in the GPU using an adapter
The problem is that the second monitor does not have a signal. Windows detects the second monitor and so does the NVIDIA card but I get no signal to it.
What I know:
-Both monitors are working fine
-Both monitors can't get signal while they are connected to the DVI-D but both can work on the HDMI.
-I have a friend with the same GPU that has the same problem
Thing is I have a hard time finding a new adapter, I do not understand why they are so rare and in my oppinion the adapter is to blame but I can't find a new one for the time being so if you have any other ideas on what might be wrong please reply.

Solution

Why would you use a VGA cable when you have DVI-D on both the card and the monitor? Get rid of the adapter, use a DVI cable and see if that works.
To use DVI-D to VGA you need an active adapter, is that what you are using? Why are you using an adapter even? A 1080 should have a DVI-D connection on it. Or use a Display Port to DVI connection. Or Display Port to VGA. Seems you are making the connection more complex than it needs to be.

My monitor has a vga and dvi-d entry on it. So i have a cable that goes from the monitr(vga) into the GPU(dvi-d slot) and for that I use an adapter to make my vga cable conect to my gpu dvi-d

I could use a DVI-D to DVI-D cable but for some reason they are hard to find.Thing is none of the monitors get an image if I conect them to the DVI-D on the GPU.And my friend that has the same GPU, has the same problem.

Thanks, apperently the VGA-DVI adaptor is hard to find(maybe because they dont work well). Ive found a cable DVI-DVI and it works perfectly. Thank you brother
