Hi there folks!
I have a quick question maybe some of you can help me with. I recently hooked up a second monitor, and I'm not getting any connection at all. The two monitors are VGA cables with adapters on them. My primary monitor is converted to DVI-D while the one I'm trying to add is converted to DVI-I. (The graphic's card only has a port for 1 of each)
The graphics card I'm using is an Nvidia GeForce GTX 670

Does anyone have some insight on what could be causing this?

Exactly as you said. You don't exactly need to use HDMI, either that or DisplayPort should work, just use whatever seems easiest to find an adapter of...
One of the ports carries only digital signal, which lacks the analogue signal VGA needs. You'll need an adapter to get VGA from either the HDMI or the DisplayPort output (Not sure how that would work with the digital DVI). But short answer, you can't use both DVI outputs for VGA at once.

I think I get what you're saying. The back of the graphics card has 2 HDMI ports, 1 DVI-D and 1 DVI-I, then I think the motherboard is also DVI-I
So I could potentially use either DVI-I or DVI-D for the first one, and then if I want a second monitor, it would have to go into the HDMI port?

You have the adapters to convert it from dvi to vga then it will work. Go into your gforce software and turn on the function and configure the screens how you want them. Your probably only a quick configuration away from a two monitor set up. Go under display, then set up multiple displays. Turn the second display on.
