[SOLVED] Second monitor picture not being recognised on Windows 10 (Surface 3)

Hi all,

So a couple of weeks ago my second monitor (a television) stopped working with my Surface.

When I plug it into the adapter my screen goes black for a second as if it's registering it, but then nothing. If I go to 'Display' in my control panel, I can see that the second monitor is there, and also if I go to my speaker settings the TV is there as an option, so it must recognise it to some extent.

I thought it was the wire so i ordered a new one but it still isn't working. I've tried using a different TV too but still isn't working so it's not a problem with the TV.

I've tried updating the driver but it says I have the latest version.

Any ideas? I use the HDMI to watch TV religiously so this is very annoying.

Have you checked the display settings to see if the desktop is being extended?

Yes, it is being extended and if I move my cursor all the way to the right of my laptop screen it doesn't stop, it continues onwards to the second screen

Did a display driver update for your computer? If so, try rolling it back.
