I have been running two monitors for about a month now and have had no problems since I started. Both monitors are identical, except the chords used to connect them to my computer and will here by be referring to my main monitor as Monitor 1 and my side monitor as Monitor 2. Monitor 1 uses HDMI and Monitor 2 uses DisplayPort to HDMI. After the Windows 10 update on December 14th, 2016 windows stopped recognizing Monitor 2. I'm not saying that the update was the cause i'm just giving a time frame. The day before both monitors were working fine. I tried switching the chords and Monitor 1 stopped working and Monitor 2 started working. I've tried updating my graphics drivers and that didn't fix the problem. Does anybody have any other ideas for me to try? Thank You.

Turned out to just be a virus, which i feel stupid for not thinking of in the first place. Once I did a scan and wiped it my problem fixed. but thanks for the help, if it happens again and it's not a virus i'll be sure to try that.
Try uninstalling all drivers and download new ones to a USB stick on another computer. Install the new drivers off the USB; then go to your display and personalization settings by searching for "display and personalization" and make sire your compiter is recognizing the 2 monitors. Also check to make sure if you have Nvidia GPU that Surround isn't turned on in the Nvidia control panel by right clicking on the desktop.
