Question Second monitor won't be displayed at native 1080p resolution

Trying to use older Sony bravia tv (1080p) of course as second monitor via HDMI to Display Port using an adapter but it looks more like 720p.

Is the adapter my problem ?
Would pc monitor to hdmi to asapter to display port and then tv to hdmi to hdmi port work ?

Please add the exact model# to your post. older Bravia is too generic to know it's capabilities.
