Second RAM stick not working well.

I just upgraded my RAM today from 4GB to 8GB. The first time I tried everything worked fine until I opened up my first application, which was Chrome. All the applications starting crashing and after a minute a blue screen came up with a bunch of text I couldn't catch before it shut down. I re-seated it and tried again, it didn't even start (though it could have been an error on my part.) I tried the old memory and everything worked like normal.

I then tried only one stick of the new RAM, which was 4GB and everything also worked fine. I tried to add in the second stick and everything started going weird again, ending in another blue screen and shut down. After going through all the above various times I finally gave up and I am currently using the new stick of 4GB RAM, leaving the other new stick out. Somewhere in the middle of all that it also said there was something wrong with my GPU drivers (even though they where up to date) and asked me to re-install them, which I did.

Just wondering why it won't let me use the second stick of RAM I have.

Run memtest86 on your NEW memory. If it is bad, it should let you know and you can rma it. Are you using ONLY your new 2 x 4gb kit or are you mixing in the 2 x 2gb kit also? Test your new memory by itself (one stick at a time and then both sticks) and make sure you are following your motherboard's instructions as to what ram slot to put each memory stick in.

Also check your ram timings in the BIOS - make sure they are set to what they are rated.

I checked my RAM timings for both sticks, they are both at 10-10-10-28 from what it looks like.

I am having trouble finding out how to get memtest86 working. I downloaded the ISO and tried to mount it on DAEMON, but all it did was open two folders called ISOLINUX and SRC_V40A and a TGZ file called SRC_V40A.TGZ. I have no idea what to do with any of that to get to the application.

You are creating a bootable CD or DVD. You need to burn the unzipped ISO to a CD or DVD using burning software. Don't just copy the ISO to a CD or DVD, burn it as an image.
