Hello, I am trying to set up a second router in access point mode. On the second floor of the house, I have a modem “Huawei DG8045”, on the first floor of the house I want to set up a router “TPLink WR940N” in access point mode. I set up the tplink router in access point mode and put a static ip address “192.168.2.2” and DHCP mode to “disable”. I connect the router to the modem with a cable. On the router, I connect the smart box IPTV with a cable, and another cable to the TV, WiFi is also on. The problem that occurs is the following: IPTV smartbox works without problems and always, TV and WiFi work after resetting the router and until the devices disconnect from the network, and sometimes they won’t even after resetting. The router must be in access point mode because IPTV will not work if the router is in router mode.

As long as the TPLink (AP) has a static address outside the main router DHCP range (or if you must, give the AP a reserved dynamic address) you should be fine. Connect the LAN cable from main router to an LAN (not WAN) port on the TPLink the Huawei should be happy in the router mode and everything should work.

My Huawei modem have ip adress 192.168.2.1
And I connect lan cable to an lan port on tplink.. so you say instead of 192.168.2.2 i need to give my router different adress outside the range of modem?

I tried give dynamic ip adress to a router and the problem is same
